Thanks, Ann. Yes, I think it's so important to acknowledge he work that has been done by previous generations, whilst acknowledging that they didn't always have ideal world-views.
This is a fantastic look at the different waves of feminism since it first started. It’s fascinating to see the similarities and differences between them, with each wave having its focus - and its issues. It’s great to see people still fighting for women’s rights in modern society x
Thank you! I know I often get confused where one 'wave' ended and another started. I think it's important to see where we've come from, as well as celebrate the younger feminists who are making their mark now :)
I was right there in Olympia, Wa in the early 90s in what was considered the birthplace of the Riot Grrrl movement. I was just having a related conversation about this with someone today, about movements not being recognized until after the fact. You may not know while you're living it in the moment, but It's not till later that you can see its importance from a historical perspective.
I think that's so true, Jenna. You often only realise the relevance of the times afterwards. This has solidified for me recently as I have been helping my teen revise for mock history exams, which now include 1980s and 90s!
Thanks Kate for setting out the history of western feminism so clearly and helpfully. So much work done behind the scenes to make it a fairer society.

Fantastic how this puts feminism into a historic perspective. A great, and well researched piece.
Thank you! :)
