I’m sure. I have quite a few AC biographies and autobiographies, and never tire of reading about these Queens of the Golden Age.

I haven't read anything by Sayers, but I love Agatha Christie so this was very enlightening. Did you happen to read The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont? It came out in 2022 and it follows Christie's mysterious 11 day disappearance from her home. No one really knows why she disappeared and what happened but this novel reimagines it and it really hooked me. I think you might like it!

What an amazing, intriguing time capsule from literary history and the Detective Club - and I love the way you highlight the struggles a writer can go through. It seems like often we tend to overlook an author’s personal struggles but I feel it can really help us appreciate their work and also feel less alone in our own struggles, when we know that women of genius also suffered their share of pain and humiliations. Thank you for this!

Thank you! Yes, the more I research some of the fantastic women writers for this newsletter, the more I find that they all had their struggles - as we all do - in one way or another. Thank you for reading : )
