Wow Annika and Valeria sound great! Also loved the failure piece and Victoria’s podcast appearance.
I’ve got a post scheduled that discusses handwriting / typing and if my WiFi is good enough in Croatia, I’ll link this post in. Thanks for some great recs.
And thank you also for the YC mention :) really appreciate it! (Having trouble editing / thinking on my mobile whilst trying to get updates about thunderstorms at the airport. Part of travel life!)
Thank you for this roundup, some great resources here! I love Valeria :) it’s great to see that you’re turning to creativity as things change, let’s hope the sun comes out this month...
Valeria is brilliant! The clothes, the scenery, the female friendship, the voice notes...it's the perfect summer escapism! And yet, the sun must surely reappear at some point...
Oh God, I hate to do this, but I have to ask: does Annika improve after the first episode? Nicola Walker is typically wonderful and I love the direct address, but I found it entirely unconvincing and far too hasty, so I haven't returned.
Ha! I know what you mean, I wasn't sure after the first episode either (or entirely convinced after the second...) but kept watching and really got into it from there on. I liked her character (and especially resonated with her as the mother-of-a-teenager...) I liked her quirkiness, the scenery, and the way she brings mythology and literature into the cases. She's a nerd, which I enjoy! I do think the story lines are a bit hasty though, and think it would benefit from cases stretching over a couple of episodes instead. Let me know if you return! :)
Great roundup! So glad to see you are watching Valeria - I'm also really enjoying it but not finding a lot of references or conversation about it, so this was very much appreciated!
Ah! A fellow Valeria fan! It's so good, isn't it? Me and my daughter are obsessed with it! The women's friendship feels so real and warm. Plus: the clothes, right?!
Yes, it's so good, a joyful escape - and yes the clothes, and the streetscpes and skylines, it's just a real adventure. I have just started Season 3. Will also be looking out for "Austen connections" - ¡Claro!
Ah a notebook. I love me a good notebook. I like to carry a small « emergency » notebook in all my bags, plus other sizes for poetry or writing about what we did that day. I still like paper!
I love that idea of a notebook for different categories of writing! I usually end up with one notebook full of a jumble of random writing. Thanks for your comment :)
i have many, many emergency notebooks. one for each bag and one in my nightstand, JUST IN CASE. lolol you never know when the thoughts will find you. i've written a few poems at my yoga studio. a quiet mind indeed ;)

Sounds like a great post! Look forward to reading it. I hope Croatia is wonderful :)

You're welcome. Your YC posts always make me stop and think :) Oh dear! Hope you have a safe journey.
Thanks we made it 😅

I also love that you refer to an emergency notebook!!

Wonderful round up. I’ve never heard of that podcast, thank you.
Thank you! I think you'd enjoy the conversation on there. I found it really inspiring :)
