Thanks Kate. I'm new to this newsletter so still catching up. I've just read your excellent piece on Gwendolyn Brooks (though the link here didn't seem to work). I'm relatively new to her work. Where do you suggest I should begin?
Welcome! Thanks for pointing out about the link to the Brooks piece, I have now fixed it. I'm glad you enjoyed the piece. Her poetry collection 'A Street in Bronzeville' contains the title poem I refer to here, as well as her 'collection Annie Allen' which won her the Pulitzer Prize is worth checking out. A subscriber also recommended 'Blacks', a compendium of her writings, which I don't have but looks great :)
Great overview! I need to visit Cornwall at some point - this time of the year always makes me want to re-read Du Maurier’s work :) thank you for sharing x

You need to go to Cornwall! Especially as a Du Maurier fan :) Everything around there has echoes of her books, even the place names seem familiar :)
A few of my favourites in this great round-up. Thanks, Kate. Have a lovely weekend :)
Thanks, Victoria! You too - hope the sun is shining for you 😀
So far, so good :)
