Fantastic discussion! There are some books in here that I really need to read. It’s interesting to see how some of these feminist pioneers excluded certain groups - and how feminist narratives are moving towards a more inclusive feminism :)
Thank you for this great overview of feminist literature, Kate! I never took a women’s studies class at university (didn’t quite fit in with my ag science degree!) but I feel like this series has been just as informative. Really looking forward to the biography of Gloria Steinem!
I'm curious, Kate, why you chose to write a biography about Gloria Steinem? What aspect of her work are you looking into? I'm fascinated by her as well as if with many of these women you've written about. I tend to get lost in their courage and ability to stand up and speak their mind in a world not always ready to hear what they had to say -- but I'm not quite sure, ultimately, how the views of these women shaped the feminist movement. This helped but where is Gloria in all of this? Just curious how she stacks up.
Thanks for your comment, Brooke! I think I chose Gloria for my next biography in particular because she has been a constant source of inspiration, even now, at age 89!! She has always appeared to strive to bring everyone into the conversation through her founding of many organisations, supporting grass-roots feminist causes. She is also a kick-ass writer and journalist, whom I can only aspire to!
I think the ways in which these women (and many, many others) helped to shape the movement going forward was in the way they brought issues affecting women to the public consciousness, raising awareness and inciting change. Thanks for reading 😀

Thank you! Yes, it feels as though the movement has gained a new momentum for the next generation of feminists 😀

Ah, thank you, Kelsey! So glad you enjoyed it. Celebrating all things Gloria this Sunday 😀 🍾
