Fantastic piece! It is so important to bring diverse, new and often misrepresented voices into the books, films and TV shows we enjoy- and I love the connection you’ve made to Woolf here. Thank you for sharing :)

I was just reading about a new opera of The Hours in the FT - https://www.metopera.org/season/in-cinemas/2022-23-season/the-hours/

Hoping it comes to London!

This time in London, we will see Frozen for my son's 4th birthday. Makes me so happy that this is a film (and hopefully musical) that my son LOVES. As you suggest, it subverts archaic understandings of gender roles and empowers women. I love that the main conflict in Frozen is a female person vs herself one.

Ah, thank you for reading, glad you enjoyed it! : ) Yes, we need to see all voices represented to make art inclusive for all.

Wow! I am glad The Hours continues to inspire other artistic fields - I think it's just a masterpiece of writing by Cunningham, inspired by Woolf.

I'm glad your son loves Frozen! I remember the first time I watched it with both my children (who had already seen it) and we were all in tears, it was so uplifting at the end!
