Thanks so much Kate for an insightful article. I look forward to each of your offerings as you continually introduce me to authors and tangents I don't have much exposure to. Keep up the great work.

As an Agatha fan I feel like I should read this as I am always keen to delve into a bit of Agatha. Really well written post.

I read Bad Blood when it first came out: it’s extremely powerful and affecting and has stayed with me. I’ll have to have another look. Her short Carter book is also excellent.

I agree; you can only imagine what more she could have gone on to write. Thanks for reading and commenting 🙂

Thanks for saving me the time of reading 'The Truants' and directing me instead toward Sage!

Amazing how one read leads to another...

What a shame about the ending of this memoir before the part so useful to your research. I wonder if other documentation - letters etc - are available for that part of her life?

I know! I found it all so fascinating.

That's an interesting question...I think they have some of her work at our library in the research archives. May well be worth a visit! Thanks for reading 😀

Oh I love when something I'm reading, whether I love the thing or not, leads me to go exploring into something else that's so remarkable! Thanks for sharing!

The initial description of The Truants (which I haven't read) reminded me of Wolitzer's The Interestings.

Wow this is such an interesting insight into Lorna Sage, I’ve never heard of her but it sounds like she led a pretty unconventional life! I’ve read The Truants and I agree, it’s an odd book. I raced through it - and I really enjoyed it - but it definitely tried to do too much. There were so many great themes and characters that could have been developed, but weren’t. I find it fascinating that Weinburg chose someone she admired so much as the central figure of the book - especially considering Lorna Clay’s portrayal in the book. Thank you so much for sharing this insight!

I know, I agree on 'The Truants'. It had such a great premise but seemed to get a bit confused in its intentions. Lorna Sage was quite remarkable considering her upbringing and the age she became a mother. Thank you for reading and commenting! :)
