I do love buying notebooks and have one on the go for writing notes on each book I read. I keep another one for my travels as I can never remember in detail what I did, although my photos do help.

I love this post, Kate! Thanks for sharing your joy with us. It was such a pleasure to hear about your creative processes.

A few of my simple creative pleasures:

- FINALLY buying colored pencils and a sketch pad to draw in and actually drawing. I am awful at it but that isn't the point. I find it so therapeutic even if it's nothing I'd dare show a soul.

- journaling. I know it isn't for everyone but there is something special about writing something that's just for me, a place to dump my feelings and thoughts and look back at one day.

- writing my novel. I am making very slow progress because I've started it as a joy project, not something that I need to publish and make perfect (though I will feel this drive at some point). For now, it's just for pleasure and it's just for me, and I really do love that.

- writing letters and postcards! I LOVE getting things in the mail and I love sending notes too. It's a beautiful way to stay connected (especially if you are like me and live in a different country from most of your loved ones).
